A 2,000 square foot artificial grass install in the Inland Empire typically lands between $18,000 and $24,000 once base rock, haul-off, and labor are included. Larger yards spread mobilization and dump costs across more turf, so the per square foot price drops compared with a 500 square foot front yard.

How does the price change as the yard gets bigger?
Mobilization, dump runs, and compactor rental cost about the same on a small job as on a big one. So the bigger the yard, the more those fixed costs get spread out.

What actually takes the time and money on a yard this size?
Base rock. A 2,000 square foot yard needs roughly 24 to 28 tons of Class II base, compacted in lifts, after we haul out a similar weight of old soil and sod.
That is several truckloads each way, not one.
And then there is gate width. A 32 inch side gate means every load goes by wheelbarrow at about 250 pounds at a time. On a yard this size, that adds a full day or more compared with a house that has a 10 foot RV gate.
Seams and heat
Turf ships in 15 foot wide rolls, so a yard this size has seams. Where they land matters. We plan them away from the main sightline and the dog run, and we glue them with two-part seam adhesive rather than tape alone.
July in Hemet and San Jacinto pushes a west facing yard past 130 degrees on the surface in the afternoon. That is why base compaction and drainage get more attention than the turf color.
HOA rules
Some Temecula, Menifee, and French Valley communities require a specific pile height, color, or a 4 inch concrete border. We have seen that border add $8 to $12 per linear foot. Ask for the HOA rules before you compare bids.
What should be in a written quote for a large turf yard?
