A Yard Built for Kids

Kids run, jump, fall, and get back up. That is what they do. Playground turf gives them a surface that cushions those falls and keeps them safe, without the mud, dust, and hard-packed dirt that comes with natural yards in the Inland Empire.

The biggest difference between playground turf and standard residential turf is what goes underneath it. We install a closed-cell foam shock pad beneath the turf surface that absorbs the impact of falls. The pad thickness is matched to the height of your play equipment -- taller structures get thicker padding. This system meets ASTM F1292 fall attenuation standards, which is the same standard used for commercial playgrounds at schools and parks.

The turf itself is soft, non-toxic, and lead-free. Kids can crawl, sit, and roll on it without irritation. The surface drains quickly, so there are no puddles or standing water after rain or hose play. And because it is artificial turf, there are no bugs, no allergens, and no pesticides to worry about.

We install playground turf for homeowners across San Jacinto, Hemet, Menifee, Beaumont, Murrieta, and the broader Inland Empire. Most projects are backyard play zones around swing sets, jungle gyms, and trampolines. But we also build play areas in side yards, front yards, and anywhere else your kids need a safe surface to play on.

For families who also have pets, our playground turf installations work double duty. The same surface that protects your kids from falls also gives your dogs a clean, durable yard to use. We can combine pet-friendly drainage features with playground padding for a surface that works for everyone in the household.

The installation process is similar to our standard turf work -- we remove existing material, grade for drainage, and install a compacted base. The addition of the shock pad happens between the base and the turf layer. The entire project typically takes 2 to 3 days for a standard backyard play area. We handle everything from start to finish with our own crew, and we clean up the site before we leave.

Safety First

Why Playground Turf Is the Smart Choice

Fall Protection That Meets Standards

Closed-cell foam padding beneath the turf meets ASTM F1292 fall attenuation requirements. This reduces the risk of serious injury from falls off play structures.

Non-Toxic and Allergen-Free

No lead, no harmful chemicals, no pollen, no pesticides. Kids can play barefoot, crawl, and roll around without any health concerns.

Fast Drainage, No Puddles

Water passes through the turf and drainage system quickly. Kids can play right after it rains or after a hose-down session without getting muddy.

Stays Clean Year-Round

No mud tracked into the house, no grass stains on clothes, no dust clouds when the kids are running around. The surface stays clean and consistent every day of the year.

Our Process

How We Build Safe Play Areas

Extra steps for extra safety. Here is how we do it.

Assess the Play Zone

We evaluate your space, note the height of play equipment, and determine the right padding thickness to meet safety standards.

Prep and Grade

We remove existing material, grade for proper drainage, and install a compacted crushed rock base for long-term stability.

Install Shock Pad and Turf

Closed-cell foam padding goes down first, then we roll out, cut, and secure the playground turf on top. Edges are nailed down tight.

Safety Check and Handoff

We test the surface, clean up the site, and walk you through maintenance. Your kids can start playing the same day.

Common Questions

Playground Turf FAQ

Playground turf is one of the safest surfaces you can install for children. The turf itself is non-toxic and lead-free. When paired with a shock-absorbing foam pad underneath, it meets ASTM F1292 fall attenuation standards. This means the surface can absorb the impact of a fall from play structures up to a certain height, reducing the risk of head injuries and broken bones compared to hard surfaces like concrete, packed dirt, or even natural grass over hard ground.

We install closed-cell foam padding underneath the turf surface. The pad thickness depends on the fall height of your play equipment. For standard backyard swing sets and playhouses, a 1-inch pad is usually sufficient. For taller structures, we use thicker padding to meet safety standards. The foam is weather-resistant and will not absorb water or break down in the Inland Empire heat.

Playground turf maintenance is minimal. Brush the surface once a month to keep fibers standing upright. Hose it down weekly to rinse away dust and debris. If food or drinks spill on it, a quick rinse with a hose handles the cleanup. The surface drains quickly so puddles are not an issue. There is no mowing, fertilizing, or chemical treatments needed.

All artificial turf absorbs some heat in direct sunlight, and the Inland Empire gets very hot in summer. Playground turf can get warm to the touch on 100-degree days. We recommend hosing it down before play sessions on the hottest days, which drops the surface temperature significantly. Placing the play area in a shaded spot or adding a shade structure also helps. The turf we install uses lighter-colored infill that reflects more heat than standard products.
