What should you ask a paver installer in Temecula?

Choosing a paver contractor in Temecula comes down to base preparation, compaction, and drainage, since the pavers themselves are the cheap part. Ask who is on site, how the base is compacted, and what happens when the clay moves after a wet winter. A good bid answers all three in writing.

A paver patio looks finished the day it is done. The question is how it looks after two winters.

Why does base prep decide the result?

Temecula soil, especially around Redhawk and Vail Ranch, holds moisture and moves. Pavers laid on a thin or poorly compacted base will sink and ripple.

We excavate, bring in base rock, and compact it in lifts before the bedding layer goes down. Edge restraints go in last so the field cannot spread.

It is slow work. It is also the reason a patio stays flat.

How do you compare paver bids?

Put the quotes side by side and look for what is missing. One bid might list pavers and labor only. Another lists excavation depth, base material, edge restraint, and haul-off.

  • Is excavation and haul-off included?
  • What base material is used and how is it compacted?
  • How does water drain away from the house?
  • Who is on the job site each day?
  • Is the contractor licensed, bonded, and insured?

Do HOA rules affect a Temecula patio?

Often. Many communities in Temecula require plan approval for hardscape changes. We tell you what to submit, and you approve the plan before we break ground.

What about summer heat?

Paver surfaces in direct sun get hot by midafternoon in July and August. Color and material affect that, so we talk through options before ordering.
