May Ranch sits off Redlands Avenue near the Ramona Expressway, and most of the lots out there went in on tract-home grading, which means a thin layer of topsoil over compacted fill. That matters for turf. We can't just roll grass over what's there. Our crew pulls the existing soil down 3 to 4 inches, brings in Class II base rock, and compacts it in lifts before the turf ever goes down.
