Pergola construction in San Jacinto and the Inland Empire

We build pergolas for homeowners across San Jacinto, Hemet, Menifee, Temecula and the wider Inland Empire. Every job starts with footings sized for local wind and soil, then framing, finish and cleanup. Price depends on size, material, footing depth and access, so we quote each yard after walking it.

What the job involves on our end

A pergola is only as good as what is under it. Before we order a single post, we walk the yard and check where the sun hits at 3 p.m., where the wind funnels between houses, and what the soil does when it gets wet.

Then we mark the layout, dig the footings, set the posts, and frame the top. Our crew handles demo, concrete, framing and cleanup, and Steve G. is on the job site while the work happens.

Footings come first

Inland Empire clay moves. Shallow footings in clay heave in a wet winter and loosen in a dry summer. We size and dig footings for the soil we find, not a standard hole depth. And in wind-prone spots like the San Jacinto Valley floor and the Banning Pass, we tie posts into the footing hardware rather than relying on a bare post in concrete.

Shade and sun direction

West-facing patios take the worst afternoon heat. We space the top slats or rafters to cut the direct sun at the hours you actually use the space. Dense shade is not always the answer. Sometimes a cooler, lighter pattern works better.

What changes the price

  • Size and height of the structure
  • Material and finish
  • Footing depth and soil conditions
  • Whether it attaches to the house or stands alone
  • Gate width and access for materials
  • Demo, slab or paver work underneath

We do not publish a flat per-square-foot number for pergolas, because two yards of the same size can price very differently. We give you a written quote after we see the site.

How long does it take?

A standard freestanding pergola is usually a matter of days once materials are on site, with footings needing time to cure before posts take load. Attached structures, slabs and custom finishes add time. We give you a schedule before we break ground.

When a pergola is the wrong fix

If the real problem is a sloped yard with drainage trouble, a pergola will not fix it. We would deal with grading and retaining first, then build shade on level, stable ground. If an HOA has setback or height rules, we check those before design, not after.

Pergolas with turf, pavers and fire pits

Most pergola jobs sit on a paver patio or next to turf. We build the whole space as one project, so the base, drainage and structure line up. See our paver patios and driveways, fire pits and landscape design pages, or read our notes on pergola footings, wind and shade.

Questions customers ask us

Do I need a permit for a pergola?

It depends on your city, the size, and whether it attaches to the house. We tell you what to check with your city or HOA before work starts.

Can you build one over existing pavers or concrete?

Sometimes. We check slab thickness and condition first, since posts need solid anchoring.

Which areas do you cover?

We are based in San Jacinto and serve Hemet, Menifee, Temecula, Murrieta, Beaumont, Banning, Lake Elsinore, Winchester, Wildomar, Riverside, Corona and the Coachella Valley, among 40+ cities across the Inland Empire.
